As for this week’s tutorial, I will have to get myself refreshed for what I have learned in last semester, which is Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) and also we are going to redo the process of making of key chain.
Fusion 360
Before starting to work on Fusion 360, I will need to know that it is a powerful All-In-1 tool and helps to connect the entire product development process comprising design, engineering, and electronics.
I have learnt how to use Fusion 360 since last semester, and for this semester I will need to reapply what I have learnt during last semester. Besides that, I will have to rely on Fusion 360 to get the project done in order to pass this module.
Before making a keychain, I will have to click “Create Sketch” and there are 3 sides for us to choose to become the base of the keychain.
Next, to create a rectangle, I choose to put it on the center of the design. Then, I set my width to be 65.00mm and height to be 25.00mm.
Next, I will have to click “Offset” and set the distance of 2.00mm between the border and the inner border. Furthermore, in order to make the edges of the keychain become curved, I choose “Fillet” and click the four edges of the border in order to become curved.
Besides that, to create a straight line inside my design, I click “Create Sketch” and
draw a straight line on it.
Next, I click on "Cross Dimensional" and choose the straight line and the sideline of my design as my desired location and I choose 7.00mm as the distance between the two.
Here is the complete design for my keychain.
As for this week, our class, including myself, have been tasked to design our own handphone stand by using Fusion 360. Then, three unique designs will be selected by Dr Noel during the next lesson.
Here is the process of me designing my own handphone stand holder:
1. First of all, I clicked on CREATE SKETCH, then I chose the base to start my design.
3. Next, I used EXTRUDE to extrude the base to 5mm.
4. Right after I had extruded the base, I came up with this kind of shape in order to make the handphone stand. So, I clicked on FIT POINT SPLINE which was under the CREATE category to design the shape.
6. As you can see, here is my final design of handphone stand holder in 3-Dimensional.
Reflection:
At first, I could not think of any design in my head since there are so many designs for us to choose.
All of a sudden, I came out with an idea. So, I saw how those taxi or grab drivers put the phone
during driving because they have to check the duration of the route but the point is
they do not always carry their phone with their hand while driving.
Instead they put it on the handphone stand holder in their car.
So, I was like why not try to design in this way?
During the process of designing the handphone stand, I was quite concerned about the dimension of the design and thought that it would not fit a phone precisely. After designing, I realized that the dimension of my design was a little exceeded and it really seemed like it did not fit my two stands located on the base. Therefore, I clicked on CHANGE PARAMETERS on the MODIFY, and it really solved my problems regarding the dimensions of the design.
